Pay your rent for City housing

The City offers a number of ways to pay rent if you live in rental housing to make paying rent easier for you. You can select any one of the methods detailed below.

Pay your rent for City housing using TraceOnline

rental arrears

If you owe rent for your rental housing, you can find out how to pay your rental arrears and clear your account.

TraceOnline will contact you and ask you to set a day in the month when they can collect your rent from you. They can collect your rent either from your apartment or your place of work, and will return every month for rental collection on the day you have selected.

The collection agent must immediately issue you with a printed receipt. Always ask TraceOnline for their identification when they come to your door and keep your receipts as proof of payment.

Pay your rent for City housing through City paypoints

You can pay your rent at a number of City paypoints throughout Cape Town:

  • Housing offices.
  • Online: www.Easypay.co.za or www.powertime.co.za
  • EFTs: Select the City as a bank-listed beneficiary. Use only your nine-digit municipal account number as reference
  • Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Pick n Pay, PEP, Ackermans, Lewis, Top It Up, Woolworths and selected Spar stores
  • ATM: contact your bank to add the City as an ATM beneficiary
  • TraceOnline paypoints

Please bring along your original ID document as well as proof of address in order to complete the payment.

Month to month contracts

If you are not the registered occupant of the property you live in, you will have to provide your personal details to the TraceOnline agent and call the local housing office with your documentation to check whether you qualify for tenancy.
